Services for International Students

At the University of Northampton you will find a great combination of high-quality academic provision, first-class resources and a friendly, supportive learning environment. The Student Centre is a one-stop-shop for all aspects of international student life, including general advice and support, academic and financial assistance, help with finding employment and volunteering opportunities, visa and immigration information and links to other organisations who can help.

In addition, Northampton have a multi-faith chaplaincy, and the Students’ Union provides many opportunities for you to get involved in sports and social activities and meet other students from the UK and around the world.

In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, ‘4 star research’ considered to be ‘world leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour’ in regards the quality of research outputs was found in Art and Design, English Language and Literature, History, Geography, Environmental Studies and Archaeology, Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy, and Education.

Accommodation

The University has over 2,100 bed spaces spread across both campuses and the town centre. The University’s Halls of Residence are a popular choice for first year students, offering all you need to relax, make friends, socialise, study and learn.

Halls offer a variety of different room types that cater for different preferences and are designed to suit all budgets. The majority of rooms are en-suite and all are good quality, secure and affordable. There is also the option of living in either mixed or single-gender flats. All rooms are offered on a self-catering basis, with heating, lighting and water included in the rent. Students do not have to pay council tax, but if you bring a television you will need to pay for a TV licence.

Your safety is paramount, so the University operates a 24-hour security policy, with round the-clock on-campus security cover, strategically placed CCTV cameras and the Residential Life Team. The Team, which is made up of existing students and staff, provides pastoral support and guidance.

Location

Northampton is one of England’s most enterprising towns and centrally located within easy travelling distance of London, Birmingham and other major centres, with access to international airports and excellent road and rail links to all parts of the UK and Europe.

University life is spread across two linked campuses, with restaurants, shops, bars, Students’ Union and a range of accommodation options. To ensure you get the very best, the University have invested millions of pounds in facilities and buildings on both campuses. While the county boasts rolling countryside, castles and canals, the town of Northampton offers students an exciting urban experience, complete with activities, events, nightclubs, bars, shops and sports.
