The University of Chester was founded in 1839 and went through a number of changes before officially achieving university status in 2005. The Times Higher Education Survey 2016 and What Uni? Student Choice Awards 2016 rank the University of Chester as top 30 in the country for student satisfaction. In addition, the University was shortlisted by international students as top 10 in the country for student satisfaction (What Uni? International Student Choice Awards 2017).

The University of Chester’s employability record is among the best in the country, and more than 92 per cent of recent graduates were in employment or further study within six months of leaving last year. For international students flying into the UK, Manchester and Liverpool airports are a short journey away. The University of Chester offers 400 courses across 8 faculties, ranging from Animal Behaviour to Film Production to Fashion Design.

The University of Chester is ranked 1st in the UK for practice placements, joint 1st for academic support and 2nd for teaching. The Faculty of Education and Children's Services celebrated an 'outstanding' outcome from the 2010 and 2011 Ofsted inspection of Initial Teacher Training.

Accommodation

Accommodation in University of Chester halls is guaranteed to international students providing the accommodation deadline has been met. Students will have the choice of converted Victorian houses to modern purpose-built, offered on full-board, semi-catered or self-catered basis. Accommodation starts from £85 per week (single room, all utilities, Wi-Fi).

The University of Chester was revealed as the safest city based institution in the region for the third year running (The Complete University Guide 2017) and all accommodation is either on campus or within close proximity of the University.

Location

The city of Chester is located in the North West of the UK, within one hour train journey from Manchester and Liverpool and 2 hours from London. The main campus is 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre and the city has been voted as of one of the UK’s most historic and beautiful places.
